Birthday game for your grandparents

Another birthday, another card that says “you’re not old, you’re vintage”. Let’s do better. Grandparents love seeing the family. They’ll love it even more as wobbly cartoons in a game they can play on the tablet.

Our pick: flappy flyer with the Birthday theme. Your grandparents dodge balloons and rogue candles, grab cake and presents, and the game finishes with a cake smash ending carrying your own message. Every line is pre-written and funny out of the box, and you can change any of it.

Sample lines

  • “Make a wish! (Not that one.)”

Who’s who

Put both grandparents in as playable characters and the grandchildren as the family waiting at the top.

Tips for the perfect birthday game

  • Set the win level to their age. It’s funny at 8 and absolutely brutal at 80.
  • Keep the win level low so they reach the ending and see your message.
  • Send it at midnight so it’s the first thing they open on the big day.

Birthday game for your grandparents: FAQ

How do I make a birthday game for my grandparents?

Pick a game style and the Birthday theme in the app, play it free with demo characters, then upload a photo of your grandparents to turn them into cartoon characters. Name the game, pick a link like yourname.become.games and send it. It takes about five minutes.

Can the game show their age?

Yes. Use the {age} placeholder in any line, or set the win level to their age so they have to score that many points to reach the cake-smash ending.

Can grandparents play it without help?

Usually, yes. It opens straight from a link or QR code, the flappy game is a single tap and the story climber just needs holding one side of the screen or the other (it jumps by itself). There’s nothing to install and no sign-up for players.

Can I make a birthday game at the last minute?

Absolutely. Building takes a couple of minutes and characters are ready in one or two more, so you can make it on the morning of the birthday. We won’t tell.

How much does it cost?

Making, playing and publishing games is free. To turn your own photos into characters you need a plan: £3.49 a month (2 characters in month one) or £19.99 a year (10 characters up front). Plans also unlock custom game links. Cancel any time.
