Story climber

Jump upwards through your story. Someone special waits at the top.

A vertical jumper with heart. As your person climbs, story milestones appear: a year, a caption and, coming soon, an optional cartoon memory scene made from your photo. Their partner, family or friends wait at the top. It’s our most sentimental game and a proper tear-jerker for anniversaries, birthdays and big moments.

How to play

Hold the left or right side of the screen (or use the arrow keys) to steer. Jumping is automatic. Climbing is emotional. Choose Bouncy walls for a faster, slippery climb: build up speed to jump higher, bounce off the walls and chain combos.

Controls

Hold left/right side of the screen, or arrow keys

Win level

6 milestones by default (you can pick 3–12)

What’s in it

  • Story milestones with years and captions
  • Classic or bouncy-walls climbing with combos
  • Cartoon memory scenes (coming soon)
  • Your partner waiting at the top

Best for: Anniversaries, milestone birthdays, retirements and big soppy gestures.

Sample lines

  • “At the top: love, glory and slightly squashed presents.”

Every line is pre-written and editable. Names are examples.

Questions people ask

Is the story climber game free to make?

Yes. You can build and play a story climber game for free with our demo characters. A plan (from £3.49 a month) turns your own photos into characters and keeps the game live.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. It plays in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Controls: hold left/right side of the screen, or arrow keys. It can be added to the home screen and works offline once opened.

How hard is it to win?

You choose. The win level is 6 milestones by default (you can pick 3–12). Reaching it unlocks the ending and your message.

Can I reuse my characters in another game style?

Yes. Every character is drawn once, in a standing pose and an action pose facing both ways, and every game style brings those same drawings to life. You can make as many games as you like with the same cast at no extra cost.
