become.games turns your people into cartoon characters and puts them in a small, funny browser game that you can send as a gift. You pick the game style, the occasion, the jokes and the ending; we do the drawing and hosting.

Making, playing and publishing games is free, as many as you like, and every published game gets its own permanent link. To turn your own photos into characters, and to give games a custom link like yourname.become.games, you need a plan: Monthly at £3.49 a month or Yearly at £19.99 a year.

No. Every game is a become.games web link that plays in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. They can add it to their home screen if they want it to feel like an app.

Yes. One link plays all ten game styles: a Games button in the menu lets them switch, with the same characters, the same look and your message at the end of each. Every style keeps its own leaderboard. You choose which one opens first, and you can switch the others off if you want it to be one game only.

Yes. Tick “Change with the seasons” when you make it and the game dresses up for whatever is on the calendar: Halloween in October, Christmas in December, summer, winter and more, with the jokes to match. In between it goes back to the occasion you chose. Your own message and anything you rewrote stay exactly as you wrote them.

Your original photo is used only to draw the cartoon characters and is deleted straight after. We keep the cartoon characters, not the photo. Photos are checked by automated moderation. You must have the right to use the photo, and everyone in it must have agreed to be turned into a character.

Only people with the link. Games are unlisted, aren’t indexed by search engines, have no trackers and set no cookies. You can delete a game whenever you like.

No. A preview is just for you while you make the game: it opens only in the browser that made it and lasts an hour. To let someone else play, publish the game (it’s free) and send them its link.

Building a game takes a couple of minutes. Turning a photo into characters takes about one or two minutes, and you can watch them appear in the app.

You need to be 13 or over to create a game. Under 13s should ask a parent or guardian to make one for them. Cheeky mode is only available to adults (18+) and only when every character is an adult.

No. Only upload photos you have the right to use, of people who have agreed to be turned into a game character. No celebrities, politicians or other public figures, and no photos of children unless you are their parent or guardian or have their parent’s or guardian’s permission.
