A digital postcard from the Cairngorms they won’t forget

The Cairngorms is the UK's biggest national park, with mountains that feel properly Arctic, ancient pine forest and reindeer. Actual reindeer. Base yourself in Aviemore and pick your adventure.

Pick the Postcard occasion, type “the Cairngorms” where it asks “Where’s it from?” and the game becomes “Greetings from the Cairngorms”, with postcard-flavoured jokes you can rewrite. It finishes with a vintage postcard flying in: “Greetings from the Cairngorms” in big retro letters, your message on the back, a stamp and your signature. Aviemore, Loch Morlich and CairnGorm Mountain are all fair game for the jokes.

Who sends a postcard from the Cairngorms?

Skiers and snowboarders

When the snow's good on CairnGorm Mountain, everybody heads north. Send a postcard game to the friends who stayed home.

Families on half term

Reindeer, a beach at Loch Morlich and a steam train on the Strathspey Railway. A game postcard keeps everyone back home in the loop.

Hillwalkers

Ben Macdui is Britain's second highest mountain. A playable climb is the perfect 'I was up there' postcard.

3 ideas for a Cairngorms postcard game

Idea 1

Reindeer Run

With real reindeer in the hills, a Christmas look full of presents and naughty elves is irresistible.

Put this in

“Met real reindeer. Asked about Santa. They said no comment.”

Idea 2

Cairngorm Summit Push

A vertical climb with icicles and snowmen fits mountains that feel genuinely Arctic in winter.

Put this in

“Halfway up. Hot chocolate is my only motivation.”

Idea 3

Aviemore Après Ski

Waves of hangover clouds suit a lively New Year in a ski town.

Put this in

“Skied all day, danced all night. The hangover cloud has found me.”

What to write on a Cairngorms postcard

  • Name-drop a landmark. “Wish you were here at Aviemore” works because it’s specific.
  • Mention what the Cairngorms is known for: Britain's only free-ranging reindeer herd, or skiing and snowsports. One specific detail beats “lovely views” every time.
  • Keep the ending message short: one detail, one feeling, one sign-off. It reads better on a phone screen.

Ending messages to steal

  • “We fed the reindeer! The kids are now convinced Santa lives near Aviemore.”
  • “Snow on the tops, sun on Loch Morlich. The Cairngorms are something else.”
  • “Climbed Ben Macdui. Very windy, very cold, very proud. Hot chocolate next.”

Landmarks to name-drop

  • Aviemore
  • Loch Morlich
  • CairnGorm Mountain
  • The Cairngorm Reindeer Centre
  • Ben Macdui

The game shows the place name and your message, not these landmarks: the Postcard look’s far-off silhouettes are generic. Your words do the sightseeing.

How to send it, step by step

  1. Pick the Postcard occasion. Open become.games and choose Postcard. You can try it free with our demo characters straight away, no sign-up needed. To send it, you put your own people in it (drawn from a photo, which needs a plan); publishing and the link are free.
  2. Choose a game style and a look. Any style and any look work. The Postcard look (pastel houses, bunting, chip-thieving seagulls and runaway suitcases) is the natural pick, and for the Cairngorms we’d also try platformer with the Christmas look.
  3. Type “the Cairngorms” as where it’s from. The “Where’s it from?” field takes up to 24 characters. Your game is titled “Greetings from the Cairngorms”; rename it if you like, e.g. “Reindeer Run”.
  4. Make the jokes yours. The pre-written lines are postcard and holiday flavoured. Swap one for something only the Cairngorms would explain, like a line about CairnGorm Mountain.
  5. Write the message on the back and send it. The ending is a postcard flying in with the place in big retro letters, your message on the back, a stamp and your signature. Publish it (free, with its own permanent link) and share it on WhatsApp, as a QR code or by copying the link. It plays in the browser on any device.

Cairngorms postcard: questions

Will the game show Aviemore?

No. The game is titled “Greetings from the Cairngorms” and ends with a postcard showing the place name in big retro letters and your message, but it doesn’t draw Aviemore. The Postcard look has far-off landmark silhouettes, but they’re generic, not the Cairngorms’s. That’s what your jokes and message are for: mention Aviemore in a line and they’ll picture it.

What should I write on a postcard from the Cairngorms?

Keep it short and specific: one place, one moment, one sign-off. For example: “We fed the reindeer! The kids are now convinced Santa lives near Aviemore.”

Can I send a Cairngorms postcard to someone abroad?

Yes. It’s a link, so it plays in the browser on any phone or computer, anywhere in the world, with no download or app store. Send it on WhatsApp, by text or email, or as a QR code.

How much does a digital postcard game cost?

Making, playing and publishing it is free, and every published game gets its own permanent link. To turn your own photos into cartoon characters, or to give the game a custom link like yourname.become.games, you need a plan: £3.49 a month or £19.99 a year. Cancel any time.
